2 For $25 Socks

When to use this

Use this template when you want to set a fixed price for a bundle of two items in the same category – for example "any 2 pairs of socks for $25". It's a classic merchandising tactic for fast-moving categories where customers expect a price break for buying multiples.

How it works

This is an Item Group promotion that batches two matching items together and prices them as a unit.

  • Item Group conditions on Category – the promotion matches any product in the Socks category.
  • Quantity: 2 – the item group needs two matching items to form one batch. A cart with four pairs of socks forms two batches; three pairs form one batch and one pair is left at its normal price.
  • Fixed Total Price action – the entire item group is priced at A$25, regardless of the individual socks' original prices.
  • Batch Limit: 0 – any number of batches can form, so a customer can buy 4 pairs for A$50, 6 pairs for A$75, and so on.
  • Lock Affected Items: Yes – socks priced via this promotion are locked out of other promotions so they can't be doubly discounted.

For the underlying concepts see Trigger Conditions, Item Groups, and Promotion Action in Creating a Promotion.

The Category attribute is described in Attributes. If your project has a search integration set up, you can pick the Socks category from the Entity Searcher; otherwise enter the category value as plain text via Bulk Add. For Shopify projects the Categories attribute is pre-configured and maps to Shopify's native collections.

Step-by-step setup

  1. From your Deducto Dashboard, open the promotions list for your project and click New.
  2. Choose Item Group as the promotion type.
  3. On the General Information tab, set the name, schedule, and behaviour. The full set of values is in the field reference below.
  4. On the Trigger Conditions tab, leave the conditions empty.
  5. On the Item Groups tab, configure the default group:
    • Name it Sock Pairs.
    • Set Quantity to 2.
    • Add one condition: select Category as the attribute, choose is one of, then either use the Entity Searcher (if you have a search integration set up) to pick Socks, or use Bulk Add to enter the value Socks directly.
  6. On the Action tab, choose Apply a Fixed Total Price for Item Group(s), set Fixed Price to 25.00, and check the Sock Pairs group under Target Item Groups. Leave the rest of the limits at 0.
  7. Click Save.

Variations

  • Different bundle size or price. Change Quantity (e.g. 3 for "3 for $30") and adjust Fixed Price accordingly.
  • Different category. Change the item group's Category condition.
  • Cap how many bundles per cart. Set Batch Limit to a non-zero number on the Action tab.
  • Only one bundle, then back to full price. Set Batch Limit to 1.
  • Allow stacking with other promotions. Set Lock Affected Items to No so bundle items can also receive other discounts.

Testing

  1. Add one pair of socks to your cart and confirm no discount is applied.
  2. Add a second pair and confirm the two pairs are priced at A$25 in total.
  3. Add a third pair and confirm two are bundled at A$25 and the third stays at its normal price.
  4. Add a fourth pair and confirm the cart now contains two bundles at A$25 each.
  5. Add a non-sock item and confirm it isn't affected by the promotion.
